Gnat. Pronounced NAT. Idk why either
🐠 or larva
Watching Petko interact with the Sunbeatle was more wholesome than my entire childhood.
Oh, is Elytra beetles something that is common in the hobby? They are so prettyyyyyyy!! Would you ever get one, Petko?
From an American stand point, I agree...the unnecessary letters are crappy lmao
I agree English language is dumb sometimes lol
Will you ever get termites? Or ants?
This channel should have more subscribers than exotic lairs
Can you please do a tour of the new DARK DEN.
Those beetles are absolutely adorable however it doesn't take away from THE HORROR of the .... GNATS ? XD
Where do you buy the hinges you use for the front doors/panel. Maybe you can send me a link? Please.
i 100% agree with you. i'm an american, but i HATE silent letters. they are superfluous, inefficient, and confusing. DOWN WITH SILENT LETTERS! VIVA LA RESISTANCE!!!
For the water bug get frozen blood worms I found that works pretty good
Tadpoles!!! My daughter was keeping tadpoles a few years ago. She had at least 250 in the pond in my back garden. I went to clean the water out as it had become really dirty. I started to notice that I hadn't seen any tadpoles, on further inspection I found 1 great diving beetle and 1 diving beetle larvae. These two had eaten every single tadpole in the space of a week!!! So I can guatentee it will eat them.
What do you mean no hot water inside of the house? Doesn't he live there? 😄
Awe Hope you get another jumping spider.. i have one name Kiwi too thanks for the name . can you tell me why my jumping spider only molt once so far as she still not an adult yet wondering why thanks so much Dark den
So the real horror in the cocoon was the extra G?
Petko, for the diving beetle, ive seen laboratories would crush the crickets for the beetles to taste/smell the prey. Sorry for the beetle pupa, it could of been parasites that got to it

I have keept diving beetles on earthworm chunks, tubifex and even fish granules.. They seem to go by smell so dead food is fine
We have so many Sun bugs here in South Africa! In our compost heap, we have ATLEAST 200-350 sun bugs crawl out of there each summer...Thats why we always have so many birds around 😂
Oh kiwi :’(
When do you make video with scorpions update?
For the diving beetle maybe try life earthworms. They survive long enaugh in the water for the beetle to find em at its own pace. If that doesnt work, feeder guppys should do the trick.
You can put some bloody red meat for the diving beetle. Like beef liver. Its what i use to catch these guys
Petco u need blood worms for the water bug lv they won't eat roaches
A popular American comedian agrees with you on the English language. 😆 pltoolss.info/one/wideo/s5azZc2osIylos0
i think you have to smash the roach to let gim know something dead is in the water
what s the name of that beautiful plant in the terrarium at 4.40?
Oh God I read triple incest moment
Lmao don’t feel bad about silent letters (ex: gnat, knife, wrap, etc.) bc native English speakers are just as confused and frustrated 😂
Obozavam tvoje zivotinje 🥵🥵
Are u fem Serbia ???
I love live plants in the enclosures. Those are some cute bugs.
Please can you tell me the name of the band on your shirt ? I'm really curious for too long need to discover this band

my exact thought lol
The English language is dumb
Hi! I’ve raised a relative of these beetles before. The easiest food that they LOVE is chicken liver. I have an extremely old video of one eating it. I bought the chicken liver frozen and defrosted tiny pieces for the beetle and then dropped it. They smell it and eventually swim over. They can also eat pellets but prefer meat.

pltoolss.info/one/wideo/sJybq9jHm5yfl8U here’s one eating. They also like frozen krill.
Hey man! As always love the content, for a prettier kiwi the second jajaja you should try getting a peacock spider
Gnats are pronounced like hat but with an n, nat
Leigha Klopp
Miesiąc temu
Also you could feed the diving beetle flightless fruit flies
Sorry I'm super behind on this channel, when did kiwi pass away? 😭😭
"What's the point in adding letters to words if you don't intend to pronounce them" As a native Englishman I have been asking the same bloody thing since I was in school. Our language is so often inconsistent & needlessly obtuse.

I'm Scottish and couldn't agree more. I feel sorry for people trying to learn our language as its far from easy to understand.
It is possible to feed diving beetles with dead bugs from tongs, but they are usually quite skittish. Tiny minnows or worms would work in the mean time. Are you planning to keep and breed assassin bugs that are native to your area at some point?
Whats the difference between beatles and bugs ?
@The Dark Den Need mosquito larva to feed diving beetle or very small worm 🪱
Yeah English is super weird sometimes. For instance, the words thought, though, and tough. All pronounced differently. Like, I'm a native speaker and I still get confused just looking at them.
Bloodworms are a popular fish food, you should try that! They float and maybe will be more attractive to the bug
Marco, buy some guppies - they are easy to keep, female gives birth after 28 days and they mature in 3-4 months so you can have quite a steady food source for the Great Diving Beetle
I would try moskito larvas or red tubifex for feeding the water beetle
maybe try daphnia (water fleas) or bloodworms (Chironomidae or Glycera) for the diving beetle? - any pet shop that sells fish/aquatics will sell them
English words like gnats have an initial silent letter, because in earlier times it was pronounced.
Our native waterbugs eat tadpoles and gnat larvae
For what it's worth, I'm American, and I don't know why they put the "g" on the front of "gnats," either.
Maybe I'm late, but that water bug is called Dytiscus (ronilac in Croatian, I guess) 😁 I guess I'm late, whatever
the snail that you picked up has deep retraction syndrom.
Your sun beetles will fly around the enclosure aswell
those larvas almost look like parasitic wasp larvas
Do you know the name of the plant?
YAY finally an update on the beetles
Wait until the snails start laying 100000000’s of eggs😂
The giant land snails look awesome. I have 6 of them I started with 2 and they had 4 babies that survived. I really like them they really are lovely pets . And so easy to look after. And their Friendly. The grubs turned into such pretty beetles. The markings on that ones back is stunning. Hope the lovely little water bug starts eating for you. It sure is a very interesting little creature. And it's so cute. Thanks for another awesome video. Chriss
Because the beetles eat old fruits they will be drunk most of the time, making them not fly very well. If they start flying its hilarious and it sounds like a helicopter
I really recommend to get some super/morio worms, they are really easy to keep and are a good feeder insect. The coolest thing about them is they turn in to beautiful black beetles
I used to feed my diving beetles tiny pieces of raw chicken breasts and freeze dried bloodworms. Maybe try those?
baby spiny guys
I've got 3 assassins bugs and last night two off them molted and before I visited the inclosure for any crickets and it seems there are no more. So today I check them and both died because they got eaten off 1or2 crickets that I didn't manage to find ): I'm so sad about it ):
I like how we can see the plastic skull of skulls in the corner 😂 Will you permanently leave it there? Im sure Kat would enjoy that hahaha
Worms tadpods and small fish for the water bug
Maybe try dropping a live insect into water beetle to mimic struggling prey
To talk about the pronunciation of the word gnat: it isn't so much that the g is silent, but that the alphabet we use is insufficient. Saying "Nat" is just close enough that it just comes off as an accent thing, as there are some english dialects that do pronounce them the same. For me, it sounds closer to nNat than how I would pronounce the phrase 'nat twenty'. Like, the g is soft? I Guess? idk I'm not a linguist vOv The english language is dumb and hard lmao

@india 2 Yeah like I said it's an accent thing, like where ever you are on Britannia, there is probably people to the north of you who talk funny, yeah? I live in E Kentucky, in Appalachia. We have an interesting accent because everyone who immigrated here 200 years ago were from the north of Scotland and Ireland lmao. Lot of Gaelic speakers

I’m British. I’ve never heard anyone say gnat as anything other than nat
I don’t get what goes through peoples mind when they dislike these videos
For i don’t get English wtf is the point of that extra letter
Idk if you have a name for the 3 bugs or if you know the sex but i think it would be cool to name them from largest to smallest Alpha, Bravo, Charlie
Yeah don't worry English is pretty Goofy
Thats a question I've been asking my whole life. Why add letters if they aren't pronounced. And recently my daughter Aniyah is in kindergarten learning to read and she asked me the same thing. I couldn't help but to laugh. So funny.
Silent g in "gnat" is apparently because it derives from an old German(ic) word in which the g wasn't silent. Much like the silent k in knight or knife. So... we don't pronounce it because it's stupid to have extra sounds in words, but we still spell it that way because we're stubborn.
Can someone tell me what’s written in his T-shirt ?
Tadpoles are great food for diving beetles
Will you be getting new mantises anytime soon? I personally love them, and have had quite a few, but currently only have 2 due to space limitations If you get any or want advice, recommendations or anything of the sort, please feel free to ask, and I'll gladly help out as much as I can!
That pinch of sand totally transformed the whole enclosure - it’s like a beach now 😂
Springtails will get rid of mites
Still so sad for kiwi :(
Awesome video dude! And yeh why do we spell words with letters that we don’t pronounce 🤣
I read this as triple incest video ;0
😍😍😍
Its a good day when petko uploads
Buggin 🐌🐛🦟🦗🐜🐝🐞🦂🕷
My first ever thumbs down on DD...bugs/roaches/beetles? #notmything still ❤️ you Petko! Miss seeing Espacito! Hopefully his new enclosure video is coming soon :)
For the water bug mosquito larvae or live brine shrimp would probably work great.
I don't know if you are even reading that, but I think your videos are really interesting. I thought about keeping tarantulas as pets, but I can't bring myself to it, even though "they are really simple to keep". It's really awesome, that you even say things like "I don't want want to order anything cause its too cold right now". There aren't many people that think like that and it's really cool (no pun intended) that you look at it this way. So few pet owners think about their pets nowadays.
I can't wait to watch with the fish
I've owned Tarantulas for years so I didn't think assassins would be difficult to keep but I started off with 3 and one vanished, couldn't have escaped so I think it just died it was really small I'm pretty sure the other one was eaten by the biggest one and now I only have the big one similar size to yours but it's a terrible hunter I've tried giving it many different food items dead and alive and even took out a lot of decor to make it easier for it but it just bites the dirt and gives up. I leave tend to leave food in with them but it's pretty skinny now 🤔🤨
Akward, suprise etc... Who and why have created english so weird?! :D
You should add some moss or some plants with the snails to keep the moisture level up
Gnats ??
Tip for feeding the driving beetle : try sum cut up earthworms or fish 👍🏽 it worked for me
give the beetle fish, small snails, and aquatic insects
If you don’t like English because of the non pronounced letters, never ever try to learn french. It the Horror. It’s a very difficult language.

@Haltara CS Hahaha! Wow! I actually knew a lady who billed herself as a female tenor, so why not?! Lol My favourite French opera is Massenet's Cendrillon; some of the roles are really interesting for casting- Cinderella can be sung by either a mezzo or a soprano, the second step-sister can be sung by either a mezzo or a tenor (which is hilarious!), and the Prince can be sung by a tenor or mezzo/alto! So many fun opportunities for mix and match! And cool roles for voice types that don't often get those types of roles. If you like opera, do check out the third act duet with the Prince and Cinderella- my favourite part, both to listen to and to sing. Or either of La Fee's arias for some incredible vocal acrobatics. 😄 Personally I love deep voices, but I know there isn't as much variety in repertoire...
Haltara CS
Miesiąc temu
@Dora Brooks Tell me about it, I'm a second alto who's always wished she was a soprano xD But as a second I'd have better luck passing as a tenor 😅
Dora Brooks
Miesiąc temu
@Haltara CS I have for fun, but unfortunately that's not a role I'd get to play, since I'm a soprano. It's such a great piece (and role!), I admit I'm a bit jealous of the mezzos who get to perform it! Ironically, my first professional role was as Marguerite in Gounod's Faust- a _French_ opera, of course! Just _had_ to be French... 😐 Hahaha! 😆
Haltara CS
Miesiąc temu
@Dora Brooks you know I have to ask. Have you sung 'L'Amour' from George Bizet's Carmen???
Dora Brooks
Miesiąc temu
Agreed! As an opera singer, I've sung in lots of different languages, even Brazilian Portuguese; after many, _many_ years of work and effort, French is *still* the hardest for me!
Often in older English the letter was pronounced, throughout time some letters got dropped especially around the Great Vowel shift. For example Knight (said night) was originally pronounced closer to "K-nicht".
Try mosquito larvae for the water bug, you can get live once in the most aquarium/fish shops😁👍
